Inside the Service Dogs mouth!

The resolution of the Tag photos was amazing. It allowed me to peer inside a service dogs mouth.

Not sure that I would do that intentionally but ...

Not that I'm all about the details but ...OMG, Yuck!

Tag appears unfazed by the dog hair and crud on his tongue.

When we get that unsuspecting dog hair in our food or if they snake their way into our mouths we do the Dog Hair Dance

Hands a flailing towards the face. Fingers grabbing at the tongue in a pinching motion. Repeating this motion in rapid succession. First the thumb and fore finger then its the thumb and two fingers then its the thumb and three fingers. That appears to not be working we resort to scraping the tongue with the mashing teeth as you thrust the tongue out, mash the teeth down as the tongue retracts. Again, repeat this motion quickly and multiple times until you determine the hair is still in your mouth. When that doesn't work, out comes the napkin. Using both hands for this exercise you hold the tongue with one side of the napkin and do a swiping motion across the tongue with the other half of the napkin making darn sure you don't go to far on the sensitive buds that you get the gag reflex. Then as all else has failed you, pick up a bottle of beer, glass of whiskey, ice cold soda pop and flush it down as if it was never there. You go on about the rest of the meal not making eye contact or acknowledging anything was the matter in the first place. Don't worry, the others will know what happened.

But for a service dog none of that means a hill of beans. See for yourself!

  2. Tod,

How about a post about tics while you're at it?

  3. Deeply satisfying knowing how to deal with pet fur in the mouth. Thanks for sharing.
